LICHEN EXTRACT
Lichen resinoid is prepared from the tree moss Parmelia nepalensis Tayl and associated minor species such as Parmelia tinctorm Nyl. Usnea species and Ramalina species using ethanol as solvent.
1. Organoleptic Properties:
Appearance : Viscous resinous matter.
Color : Dark Brown.
Aroma : Woody, dry, forest-like, or sea-weed like.
2. Physico-chemical properties:
Acid number : 110 to 125
Ester number : 120 to 200
Resinoid content : 55 to 65%
Solubility of solid :
material : 70 to 85% (in 95% alcohol)
3. Packing :
Epoxy-coated metallic barrels - 50 kg capacities.
4. Use:
As a fixative in the perfumery industry and also as a component of several types of perfumes.
