XANTHOXYLUM OIL

 

The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the dried fruits of Xanthoxylum armatum D.C.

 

1.     Organoleptic Properties:

Appearance                :      Fluid liquid.

Color                          :      Light yellow.

Aroma                        :      Refreshing, pleasant, spicy.

 

2.     Physico-chemical properties:

Specific gravity           :      0.8150 to 0.9051 at 250 C.

Optical rotation           :      [-] 50 to [-] 10.50 at 250 C.

Refractive index          :      1.4674 to 1.4815 at 250 C.

Acid number               :      0.5 to 5

Ester number              :      35 to 65

Ester number

after acetylation          :      110 to 150

Linalool content          :      55 to 75%

Solubility                    :      Soluble in 0.8 to 1.5 volumes of 90% alcohol.

 

3.      Packing :

Epoxy-coated metallic barrels - 10kg, 50 kg, 100 kg capacities.

 

4.      Use:

(a)               Being rich in linalool, and also containing limonene, methyl cinnamate and cineole, it is used in the fragrance and flavor industry.

(b)               Aromatherapeutic uses:

Anti-infectious, sedative, arthritis, cholera, toothache.

Caution:

Do not use this oil to pregnant and children.
